What is the best business case for a solar Polarstore?

The solar-powered Polarstore with an integrated battery bank is designed for off-grid conditions. It has sturdy solar power and a battery bank. With it, there is no need to run a diesel generator, and the system offers substantial savings on diesel. These savings will be higher if there is no access to the grid.

What products are stored best in a solar Polarstore?

Practically any product can be stored within a temperature range of minus 20 to plus 15. However, considering the investment, typically higher-value products are advised.

Is it financially attractive to buy a solar Polarstore?

The solar-powered Polarstore offers high-quality, reliable cooling without diesel consumption. The initial investment is higher, but it is recovered from the lower operational costs. So yes, it is financially attractive. Besides, you benefit financially from clean solar power, without the noise, without the fumes, and without the hassle of refueling. We are happy to think with the organization and to calculate their business case.

Is the solution suitable to run on grid?

Yes, it can be fully integrated with two separate power sources, normally the grid and a generator. It is specially designed to cope with blackouts, as it has integrated solar and battery banks. When running (partially) on the grid, obviously your fuel savings will be lower than with a cooling system that is otherwise powered by a generator.

What are the requirements for placing a Polarstore?

As the Polarstore comes with its own solar roof, a minimum, unshaded area of 20 by 10 is needed. An area with adjacent high buildings is not suitable, as the solar panels will be shaded throughout the day and the Polarstore will not generate its own energy. The polar store comes in a 40-, 20- and 10-foot container

How can I become a demonstration partner?

Please fill out this form, and one of our partners will reach out.

A demonstration partner is entitled to a 30% discount on the cost of the solution as well as duty-free transportation of the solution to their facility.

I cannot pay the upfront cost; can I lease the cold room facility?

We do have the possibility to explore a lease model with the potential buyer

How much does it cost to lease the cold room facility?

 Is possible, costs are unsure.

How long does it take after payment for the cold storage facility to be delivered and installed?

The delivery timeline is approximately 3 months. The installation time for a cold room varies depending on the location and is project-specific.

Do you have local partners for installing and maintaining the cold storage facility?

Yes! We are actively training stakeholders who would serve as resource persons for full service and maintenance.

How often should maintenance be done?

The solar system is equipped with remote monitoring, and performance will be monitored daily. Specific alarms can be generated, and remote communication also allows for preventive maintenance or proactive measures where needed. Further regular checks must be performed locally, and specific maintenance for the cooling engine will be advised timely. The need for cleaning the solar panels depends on local conditions; in general, 2 or 3 times is advised, not more.

Who bears the cost?

The system comes with guaranteed maintenance and customer service, ensuring uninterrupted and reliable performance.

Is there a maintenance contract offered?

Yes, as this is project and product-specific this will be produced in the purchase process.

What is the unique selling point for these cold storage systems?

The Polarstore is built to industrial standards and offers high-quality, integrated cooling solutions with onboard solar power generation and a high-quality backup bank. It has best-in-class specifications and comes with a 5-year warranty on the electronic power components and 10 years on the solar panels. As the Polarstore packs the complete solar roof, the panels, and all other equipment, it is versatile and can be relocated and transported easily. The Polarstore is designed to generate its own power and supply backup 247 and 365 days a year, which sets it apart from any other local solution.

From a product integrity standpoint, cold storage systems help to prolong and preserve the shelf life of food without compromising its nutritional value. Additionally, because it runs on solar, it is not sensitive to the price volatility of conventional generators running on petrol and diesel, making it cost-saving.

What temperature range can the cold room help me achieve?

The Polarstore sustains a temperature range of -20 to +15°C.

How often should batteries in a solar-powered cold room be replaced?

This is project-specific and depends on the usage, as a deeper discharge results in a shorter lifetime. In a standard situation, the batteries need to be replaced after 10 years.

Can solar-powered cold rooms operate 24/7, even during cloudy weather or at night?

Yes, they can. As solar power generation depends on location and energy consumption depends on usage, the project-specific energy balance will be assessed before placement.

What happens if the unit breaks? (in terms of replacement, guarantee, etc.)

The unit as such cannot “break.” In general, the suppliers warrant a sound and functional design and warrant the system design against faults without cost. Further to this product warranty on the correct design, we relay the limited warranties on the specific components (this is commonly known as a factory warranty). Specific components can fail, of course, and for different components and different manufacturers, different warranty conditions can apply. For example, the electronic components of the solar system have a 5-year warranty, the batteries warrant a specific energy throughput, the solar panels have a 15-year warranty on 80% output after 15 years, etc. Warranty conditions will be specified in the purchase contract.

What is the payback period for one unit?

This depends on the project location and usage and can be detailed in the sales process. We are more than happy to help you with the calculation.
